The Way back to Tokyo

From Australia (2009-02)

I headed to Adelaide Airport in the afternoon. The airport is nearer than I expected, so the taxi took us there from city centre in 10 minutes or so.

The airport building was larger and cleaner than Cairns and Darwin Airports. We had 2 hours to spare, so we looked around all shops in the airport. Yet, it wasn't interesting enough to kill our spare time. We had a glass of Coopers' lager beer in the end.

Our Plane left Adelaide on time and arrived at Sydney little earlier than schedule. At the Sydney Airport, I was stuck at the security check as I had a certain amount of liquid. It was exhausting and depressing because it was souvenir that I bought at Adelaide Airport after checking-in. Honestly, it was only thing in this journey that I don't want to remember.

There were not any troubles after that. The plane left almost on time. There are many Australian football supporters on the plane as the World Cup qualifiers Australia vs. Japan was held at Yokohama on February 11.

I thought Qantas flights are more comfortable than Jetstar. I enjoyed the white wine of Peter Lehman, which is also a large winery in Barossa, served on the flight, and watched "Australia" on a monitor in front of my seat. I missed the land of Australia a bit when I watched the pictures, but I missed Tokyo more than Australia.

Early in the morning on Tuesday, I finally arrived at Narita Airport. The air was extremely chilly and I was really freezing, but I was somehow glad that I came home.

午後になってアデレード空港に向かいました。空港は思っていたよりも近くて、タクシーに乗って10分くらいで着いてしまいました。

空港のビルはケアンズやダーウィンよりも大きくて綺麗でした。2時間以上待ち時間があったので、空港中を見て回りましたが、残念ながらそれだけの時間を潰せるほど興味を引くものはありませんでした。何もすることがなかったので、最後にはCoopersの生ビールを飲んで時間を潰しました。

飛行機は時間通りにアデレードを出て、予定よりも少し早くシドニーにつきました。シドニー空港では、液体物を持っていたせいでセキュリティ・チェックで引っ掛かってしまいました。その液体とういうのがアデレード空港でチェックイン後に買った土産物だっただけに、ぐったりする以上にガッカリしたものです。正直なところ、この出来事だけはできれば思い出したくない旅行中の出来事です。

ですがその後は事は順調に運びました。飛行機も時間通り離陸しました。機内に2月11日に横浜で行われるワールドカップアジア予選があるためかオーストラリア人のサッカーファンが結構いました。みんなタイトなスケジュールで向かうものなんですね。

カンタスのフライトはやはりジェットスターよりも快適でした。機内で出されたピーター・レーマン(Peter Lehman, これもバロッサにある大きなワイナリーです)のワインは美味しかったし、座席についているモニターで『オーストラリア』もきちんと見てきました。映画を見ていて、少しばかりオーストラリアの地を懐かしく思いましたが、それ以上に東京の方が懐かしくもありました。

そして火曜日の早朝、ようやく成田空港に着きました。空気は非常に冷たく、寒くて仕方がありませんでしたが、それと同時に東京に帰ってきた嬉しさを噛みしめたのでした。
