From Port Augusta to Adelaide

From Australia (2009-02)

When we wake up, the train was running near the Port Augusta. This time I saw the sunrise from the compartment carriage (our room faced on the west). Again, the view was little different from the day before. It seemed rather the granary. Passengers finally see the sea near the Port Augusta, and the train starts to go south-east from there.

The Indian Pacific, which also cross the continents (between east and west, in this case), passed through on the way. It happened all in a moment, but the operator announced when it came so as to let us take a picture through the window. It was funny to see most people in lounge waiting for the train with their camera.

Meal served twice in the morning, one was breakfast and the other is snacks with coffee, because the train arrived at Adelaide early in the afternoon. It was of course tasty, but too much for people don't do anything special but packing a small luggage.

目が覚めたとき、列車はポート・オーガスタの近くを走っていました。その日は日の出を個室のある車両から（私の部屋は西側を向いていたので）、眺めました。またもや、前日とは違う景色になっており、穀倉地帯のような感じでした。乗客はポート・オーガスタで海を見ることになり、その辺りから列車は南東に向かっていきました。

途中で大陸を横断する鉄道、インディアン・パシフィックとすれ違いました。ほんの一瞬のことでしたが、みんなが窓越しに写真を撮れるように、機関士がいつやってくるのか知らせてくれました。みんなカメラを持って、その一瞬のためにしばらく列車を待ち構える様子が可笑しかったです。

朝食とティー・タイムと、午前中に食事が2回ありました。これはアデレード到着が昼頃になるためです。どれも美味しかったのですが、荷物をまとめるほかは特に動かない乗客にとっては、少しばかり量が多かったです。
