Around River Torrens

I took a walk around River Torrens after we returned the car key to rental car office on Monday morning. City centre was quiet in weekend, but on Monday, many people who were going to work or study were walking on the street. Many of them looked unpleasant, and I found that employees all around the world definitely shared the same feeling on Monday.

Around the river was really peaceful comparing to the King William Street. Some people jogged or walked the dog paved pathways along the river. Sunlight reflected the surface of river, birds were humming. Time seemed to pass slowly only in this place.

I had breakfast for the first time in Adelaide after a walk although I couldn't finish off. Then I thought if I might be too busy. Going around was really fun, but walking trivial streets and having breakfast or taking time to eat at unfamiliar place is also interesting. Such things are different from sightseeing. But probably I would feel that I was having holiday better than visiting lots of places.

月曜の朝、レンタカーの会社に車のキーを返した後、トレンズ川(River Torrens)の周りを散歩しました。週末の街中は静かでしたが、その日は出勤か通学中の人達がたくさんいました。多くの人は、何都となく機嫌が悪そうで、どこの会社員でも月曜日は憂鬱なんだな、と思い知らされました。

川の周りはキング・ウィリアム・ストリートに比べると、穏やかな感じでした。ジョギングしている人や犬の散歩をしている人が川沿いの道にいました。川面に朝の日の光が反射し、鳥がさえずっていました。あたかもこの場所だけは時間がゆっくり進んでいるようでした。

この日、アデレードに来て初めてまともな朝食を食べました、（全部は食べられなかったけれど）。それで少し思ったのが、もしかしたら急ぎ足で動き過ぎたかな、ということです。動き回るのも楽しかったのですが、知らない町でなんともない道を歩き回ったり、朝食をとったり、時間をかけてご飯を食べたりというのも、結構良いものです。観光とはちょっと違いますが、たくさんの場所を訪ねるよりも休日気分を味わえたかもしれないな、と思ったりもしました。
